[Doctor Who - Day of the Moffat]Well, that was ... about as messy as expected? A few more fuck-yous to RTD than expected, but a few less to fans of Tennant so it basically evened out in the end. Wow, holy retcon Batman, though - way to basically take a piss at RTD and everything he ever wrote. Moffat is such a nasty little shit, I can't even with him anymore. Anyway, lets break it down:

The good stuff:

  • TENNANT, my adorable wee baby Tennant! With no exact explanation as to when in his timeline this happened, but still - TEEEEN!

  • John Hurt was fantastic and a perfect offset to Ten and Eleven and their hijinks. Bonus points for references to his regenerations getting younger, in addition to the other little nods here and there.

  • Billie Piper was amazing.

  • ... Did I mention Tennant was brilliant? Because TENNANT!!!!

The bad:

  • Seriously though, no explanation for where we were in Ten's timeline? One of the perks of letting this show go as one of my favorites is not having to worry about timey-wimey stuff - I just assume it's all horribly incorrect and illogial because Moffat sucks at timelines and leave it at that. But this, this I wanted to know - when did Ten pop off to have a romance (ugh, we'll get to that) with Elizabeth the First? And also:

  • I can't figure out if this thing was supposed to be the explanation/nod to that scene in 302 (and I think other throwaway comments as well maybe?*) where said Elizabeth came in demanding his head and being very upset with him. Because if it IS, then that makes Moffat's bullshit version of her even more bullshitty and still doesn't make much sense, and if not then it's just a giant middlefinger to the whole pre-Moffat series. And this brings us to:

  • Moffat's bullshit version of Elizabeth the First. I didn't know her actual story before watching, so I just rolled my eyes at how Moffat wrote another historic woman to be in love with the Doctor (seriously, AGAIN) and had the usual "ugh Moffat" feelings. But then reading about her in reaction posts and finding out the actual historical Elizabeth was a total badass who, most importantly, never married, and Moffat changing that to "she was in love with the Doctor and he accidentally proposed and they're married" instantly just becomes even more gross and wrong and stupid. I have a few historical idols (mainly female pirates - I went through a face) so if anyone did this to someone I admired I have an idea of how I would feel - history is full of badass women but we hear about only a small number of them, and shitting on the ones we do hear about and that people admire is just so ... shitty.

  • Not exactly news, but it's still shit that Moffat didn't ask every living Doctor to be apart of this in some way or other. It's clear from the mini-episode and the cameo in this episode that there would have been ways to work it in, and it's just disrespectful as fuck IMO to not even ASK them. Stay classy, Moffat.

  • Lest you think I'm all about the Moffat hate: No, I'd also like to direct a special shoutout to Nine/Chris Eccleston for refusing to make an appearance - it felt like something was missing the whole episode and he was it. Still, I can't blame him too much for not wanting to step anywhere near Moffat and his crap writing - especially since the episode basically undermines the way Chris played Nine and everything Nine was all about.

  • Speaking of: The retcon. Oooh, the retcon. I mean, RTD did take huge liberties in creating the time war, but when he did it he was reviving a long-dead series - and he did it for good reason, because the time war and the effects of it on the Doctor as a character is a huge part of what made it interesting to me (and presumably a lot of other new-Who fans). Maybe that's why Moffat did it - reclaiming the show for old-Who fans, in which case: well done A+ job, but you needn't have bothered - most RTD-era fans have already gotten fed up and left, or are, like me, watching just to see how bad you'll fuck this up next. This hasn't been the show I signed up for for a long time, and I'm pretty sure it never will be again.

*Appearantly he said something about her not being a virgin anymore in the episode where he dies but I've completely repressed that whole episode so no shocker that I forgot that part too. Still - a special fuck-you should go out to whoever wrote that episode (most likely RTD, too tired to check), because that's also kind of gross.

Good and/or bad?

  • No actual Rose, meaning no Ten/Rose, seeing Eleven's reaction to Rose and Rose being badass. On the one hand: BOOO, on the other hand I'm relieved because atleast this way there was no way for Moffat to fuck that up atleast. Unless you count not including her as fucking up, in which case: job well done!

[Person of Interest 309]I haven't seen the episode yet but I got spoiled by Tumblr and am thankful for it - I don't know if I even want to watch the episode and I definitely wouldn't have wanted to find out by watching it. I'm just in shock right now, I feel like one of my best friends just turned around and punched me in the stomach - I truly did not think this was even a possibility. I knew someone was supposedly going to die but I figured it would be a fake-out, or it would be Fusco which I could live with, or it would be Root or Shaw which would have made me furious and livid but atleast would have made some sense and been somewhat predictable and maybe, MAYBE, I could have gotten over eventually (although probably not). But Carter? After she's finally had screentime, gotten her own flashbacks, hung out with the other girls and been an absolute perfect badass this season? NO. FUCKING NO WAY IN HELL NO, I AM NOT OKAY WITH THIS, I AM NOT REMOTELY OKAY WITH THIS. This is a dealbreaker, this is a line you can't cross, this is fucked up and wrong and stupid on so many fucking levels starting with feminism and ending with TV common sense - this is unforgivable. Which fucking SUCKS, because I loved this show, still love it actually but hate it more than I love it which sucks even more because it's confusing and conflicting. That's the thing about dealbreaking deaths, for me atleast, they don't just kill one character - they kill all of them. Now I have to be sad about losing Root and Shaw and Finch and Reese and Fusco and Bear too, and about Elias and the Machine and Shaw's crush on Carter and Reese/Carter and Fusco and Carter partner-BFF and the show itself, in addition to being sad and pissed and furious about Joss. My head already hurts from all the sad and anger. WHY DO SHOWS DO THIS.

Goodbye POI.

[TMI/possible grossness]Ugggh, I do not feel good, and I don't know why exactly. I have a sore on my lip - I get them from time to time, but this is the nastiest version where I also feel weird, like I have an infection or something. I feel sick without the actual sick parts, just sort of out of whack and generally uncomfortable and icky. And my lip hurts and is swollen, but aside from that there's no actual symptoms beyond indescribable ... weirdness. It usually passes after a couple of days, but it always feels like *this* time it's worse than usual. Last night I had an anxiety attack when I went to bed, as much of one as I ever get on these meds (which is plenty horrible, and has the unfortunate side-effect of lasting longer since I don't wear myself out hyperventilating as fast) so that was fun. Basically everything sucks and is horrible, FML, etc. And fuuuuuuuuuck, how my lip hurts - it comes and goes but right now it's here and I seriously feel like stabbing my lip with a knife would make it hurt LESS. Mother FUCKER.

Sleepy Hollow:
[Spoiler (click to open)]Good episode, but for various reasons (my current state of mind being one of them) it didn't make me seal-clappy happy and excited. For one, I'm officially at that point where I'm fed up with trying to like Katrina when it's like the writers/actress are doing their utmost to make her as unappealing as possible, both as a character and love interest. If they wanted me to like her, they could make me like her - every single other character on the show is proof of that. Well, except Luke, but I don't hate Luke - I just hate that he's the stereotypical boring straight-man/guy who isn't in on the what's what and only exists to side-eye Ichabod and for Ichabod to have someone (more) to side-eye (because lbr Ichabod side-eyes everyone). Clearly they do not want me to like her, or she wouldn't constantly have this constantly sad demeanor and talk in breathy stilted old timey-language (which Ichabod/Tom makes roll off his tongue) like she's doing a Shakespeare parody, and she would have an actual personality outside her relationship with Ichabod. Etc etc etc - but she is all those things, and so I draw my conclusions. Well done, you win, I don't like her.

Also didn't love the more srs bsns mood of the episode - I get we need these every now and then to progress the plot and keep things action-y, but I wasn't in the mood for it and it felt a little bit off in a few places. It was also the first episode where I kind of wanted to slap Ichabod (in a non-sexy kind of way anyway), for various reasons but especially for confessing to Abraham while in enemy territory - Horsie was right dude, you did kill him, you killed him with stupidity. Plus the way he was gloating at the Horseman bordered on tacky and reckless, especially given Andy's warnings and the relatively flimsy confinement - he's the bloody Horseman of fucking Death! Literally my first thought when they lit up those UV lights was "I sure hope they have a back-up generator for that" (I figured he'd probably only be trapped there until Feb sweeps or something, but even that was too generous of a guess appearantly). Anyway, he just sort of got on my nerves this episode.

Things I did like: More Andy the snarky undead demon butler! More Jenny! Jenny and Frank teaming up! (I might ship it, jury's still out.) The team coming together in general, for that matter! Aaaand that's about it tbh.

The Walking Dead:
[Spoiler (click to open)]TWD this week, what the even fuck? So boring, so lame, so asfnsdrkmfgklmdlg STAHP NO UGH WHY. I knew the Governor was coming back, I knew the episode would include him a lot, but the whole freaking episode being him??? Walking around looking all sad like we should feel fucking sorry for his gross rapist murderous ass? And then having some sort of woobie-redemption-ish storyline which was in fact 100% gross and weird and creepy as fuck? I don't get what the point was of that, because I know the theme of this season is "can you ever come back from the things you've done?" and in the case of the Governor the answer to that is fucking HALES. NO. and you did not need a whole fucking episode in order to reach that conclusion. Just kill this asshole already, or send him off to wander the roads growing another beard-o-sadness to the tunes of Johnny Cash, I honestly don't even give a fuck as long as we never have to see him again.

Non-TV news first: I got accepted into the guild I applied to, after a rather nerve-wracking wait and application process (there were interviews - plural! Well, talking, anyway, but they felt like interviews. Or inquisitions....), and I'm in that horrible awkward terrrible phase now of being new and feeling stupid whatever I say and wondering how in the fuck I ever got anyone to ever hang out with me in the past, much less appearantly like me. But yeah, too early to tell how it'll go. I am, however, definitely really enjoying being back as Alliance - I miss my goblin a lot, but I'm also remembering that the Alliance isn't the snobby boring faction I learned to think of it as while being Horde, and I'm loving both my leveling projects (worgen and nelf hunters). Best of all: No Orgrimmar, no ugly buildings, waaay fewer deserts, and a lot more polite players. I sure as fuck do not miss my old server - PVP = not for me. (I do miss my money, though. My precious beautiful goooold. *sob*)

And now, TV:

Sleepy Hollow:
[Spoiler (click to open)]Another SUPER-DELIGHTFUL episode featuring everything I ever wanted this show to do: Ichabod yelling at museum guides! Learning disturbing facts about his old presidential pals! Being appalled about consumerism/bottled water! Using the internet! STUMBLING ACROSS INTERNET PORN! = All things I was hoping for in one way or the other, IDK, at this rate they're gonna out of wishes to fulfill for me that aren't currently unrealistic (Ichabbie making out a bunch - although I'm still crossing my fingers really hard for a love spell gone awry or a lust demon or alternative universe, dream sequence, etc etc). But in the meanwhile, ICHABOD USED THE INTERNET. THERE WAS PORN. IT WAS THE GREATEST.
Plus, this scene?
THE CUTEST. Their Nicole/Toms were showing a bit there, I felt, but either way it was delightful and perfect. YOU DORKS.

Also yelly caps for IRVING! FINDING OUT ABOUT EVERYTHING! BEING ACTUALLY SURPRISED ABOUT IT! NOT APPEARANTLY BEING A MASTERMIND/IN ON IT/A WITCH OR SOMETHING! I mean, it might be subverted somehow, but taking things on face value I'm pleasantly surprised - they had me so busy guessing if he was good or evil that I never really stopped to think he might just be a guy who legitimately wanted to see how this thing played out but was seriously hoping it was all pure bullshit. Although thinking about it, he probably still will turn out to be ~something more, but I'd have to go back and look at his scenes again to be sure (which I will, eventually). Still, I hope he turns out to mostly be on Team Badass - I want him, Abbie, Ichabod and Jenny to be the main team, and then Luke, Dead!Andy, Ghost!Corbin and WhoKnows!Katrina can be the "maybe good, maybe evil, maybe just extremely unhelpful" B-team. *nods* This is what I want.

Speaking of: DEAD ANDY - DELIGHTFUL OR DELIGHTFULLEST? He's the snarkiest zombie demon-butler ever and I love it, I should revive my Tumblr and also rename it to include the word zombie now that we know he's decaying. I hope that can be fixed/reversed - he really needs to stick around the show for good.

Lost Girl:
[Spoiler (click to open)]I was feeling pretty pessimistic about the odds of Tamsin being alive, but then I saw the actress was in some sort of pre-show thingy and so now I'm slightly hopeful again - I really want her to be alive. Anyway, the episode was ... weeeeeeeird. Dyson/Kenzi = not a thing I ever wanted to see, with my eyes, EVER - I always friend/sibling-shipped them so hard I just cannot see them being romantic without going EWW NO STOP WHAT ARE YOU DOING. Pretty weird episode otherwise too, and not just because I'd already forgotten half of what happened in the season finale of s3 - although I did appretiate the (mostly) lack of Lauren, and an episode about how Kenzi is awesome and the best can obviously never be all bad. Still, Dyson/Kenzi... Whyyyy. *shudder*
I'm happy Vex is around though, his hammyness is growing on me and I loved it last season when he and Kenzi were friends who traded eyeliner tips.

Other shows haven't been very comment-worthy lately - if I commented on The Walking Dead, for instance, it would mostly go something along the lines of:[Spoiler (click to open)]Hey, did you guys fix the fence yet? You know, the fence that almost gave in but then you SUPER-TEMPORARILY "solved" the problem by killing poor defenseless pigs, and then you just ... appearantly assumed it was all good and no longer a problem? Just shove a few more poles there, because that's been working so great so far? And hey, standing around the fence doing feeble and half-assed attempts at reinforcing it probably doesn't work the zombies up in a frenzy or anything - I mean it's not like you're dangling fresh live meat in front of ravenous beasts or anything -- OH WAIT. So didya fix it yet? No? Is it coming down? Yes? WELL IMAGINE THAT, GO FIGURE, WHO COULDA KNOWN, WATCHA GONNA DO, OOPSY DAISY, SHIT HAPPENS, IF ONLY THERE HAD BEEN SOME SORT OF MAGICAL WAY TO DEDUCE THAT A SIMPLE WIRE FENCE CAN ONLY WITHSTAND SO MUCH PRESSURE. HOW ARE YOU PEOPLE STILL ALIVE???

See? Not very comment-worthy. Instead, here's that meme that basically ALL OF YOU have been doing:

General note: May have missed some older ones due to them having other names in Swedish - some of them took me a while to recognize with their original title. Also, a huuuge number of shows I watch are missing from the list.
Note to self: Use this as a checklist for when finally doing that "watch ALL SHOWS EVER" project.

HOW DID I MISS THAT TODAY IS/WAS DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME*? THAT'S ONLY MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR! I've been feeling yucky and weird all day though so it's a bit of a waste and bad timing, but on the other hand I've been living on Internet/USA-time lately anyway (=going to bed at 4am and not giving a shit - because if I did live in the US it would only be like 10pm which is super-early, so ergo, ipso facto, QED, carpe diem: I go to bed super-early! LOGIC!) so I guess it isn't as important of a holiday as it used to be.

*Don't freak out - we get it earlier than some countries.

Haven't seen any TV worth commenting on since Thursday - Arrow (really liking this season) and American Horror Story (Madam LaLaurie watching the news - best scene of 2013? Top 5 atleast, that's for sure!) - but I have watched a bunch of movies:

No One Lives: [Spoiler (click to open)]Weeeeird, kind of confusing, not good.

Evil Dead: [Spoiler (click to open)]Turned it off, too gross even for me (I can deal with gore, I can deal with one, maybe two, pukey scenes, but gorey pukey scenes almost non-stop? Nooooope.), and a lot gloomier than I expected. I mean, when the description says "a group of young people go to a remote cabin and get trapped with something evil" (or something to that effect) I was not expecting it to be a DIY rehab situation. FALSE ADVERTISING, YO.
I ended up rewatching The Emperor's New Groove as a palate cleanser though, so it wasn't a total waste. Still my favorite movie, still know all the lines. No touchy! Llama face! Wrong leveeeer! <3

Resident Evil: Retribution:[Spoiler (click to open)]Hooboy, this was a huuuuge mess. These movies have been getting increasingly ridiculous (I loved the first 2) and this was just too much, too messy - all glossy surface with little to no plot. Like, I love watching badass girls kicking ass as much as the next person but I need some kind of context and plot to follow. I did love seeing all the old characters/actors from the first movies though, that was fun.

Iron Man 3: [Spoiler (click to open)]Yep, finally saw this, 40 billion years after everyone else. It was good, but looooong (never do an action movie as your second feature - lesson learned), and it probably would have been better if I hadn't seen all the scenes out of order already courtesy of Tumblr (this was actually the motivation that finally made me investigate this "blacklisting" thing I'd heard about). I loved that Pepper got to kick ass too, Tony Stark remains the badassest and best, sky remains blue, etc etc obvious opinions.
However, I took the most delight in the small details, like how William Sadler has worked himself all the way up to POTUS from lowly sheriff of Roswell where I first encountered him, and then, very briefly, another smalltown sheriff investigating weirdness and being unaware his son pals around with non-humans flashed by (hi Linden Ashby!), and I got to picture them having coffee at a diner and complaining/competing which town has it worse. And Grainger from NCIS is the shady VP who turns out to be evil - shocker.

I couldn't resist...

Apply for Team Horsemen HERE and let them know I sent you!

Go, do, play! Going to be pretty casual by the sounds of it, which is good because I have stress issues in the winter.

Agents of Shield
[Spoiler (click to open)]Liking Skye more and more (although I will keep echoing my "why did they have to make her a double agent whyyyy" feelings), but the rest of the team could still use some ... what's the word ... personalities? I mean the Cases of the Week has more personality than FitzSimmons combined - their only thing is that they're cowardly science geeks and it's been 4 episodes! Come on now.
And as for Robot Guy they're even mentioning it in the show now! It's never a good thing if you feel the need to take jabs at one of your character within the first 10 episodes  - that's probably a sign you should go back to the drawing board on him. I guess atleast they're aware of the problem, maybe there's some bigger plan that requires him to be a dull cardboard cutout character.

[Spoiler (click to open)]Olicity bickering = yes more please, especially with sassy not-taking-your-crap-no-matter-how-hot-you-are Felicity (who, I might add, is looking seriously drop-dead gorgeous this season). Everything else ... well atleast they're not pushing Laurel/Oliver on us anymore. I'll call that a win.

Arrggh, I was going to do stuffs with Sleepy Hollow FFA today - I had ~plans, but things keep distracting me and getting in the way. It's coming though, eventually, I'm gonna do stuffs with it! But now I must sleep.

This post is brought to you by Crippling Self-Doubt

Yep, I finally made the meme, and no one's doing it and no one's going to do it and I hate this oh god why do I try to do things?? Atleast I can go to bed soon and then I won't have to look at it, being all pathetic with just my post there, all sad and lonely and pathetic-like. I hate doing things. I'm never doing things again. I'm never posting anything again. Ever.

OH! notoriousreign just did it! I'm not alone! It might be dead and never go anywhere and the comm will probably still bomb but atleast my post isn't all alone! My post has a friend!

ILU notoriousreign

I'm back! (For reals this time!)

Okay I know I said I was back before and then disappeared again but I really am back now, for reals, and this blog is going back to being 99% about TV and only 1% about my depressing boring real life that no one, least of all me, wants to think about, and all is right with the world again. In more ways than one actually, because I have officially jumped into a new fandom (Sleepy Hollow) and my fangirly joy cannot be contained merely on Tumblr. In fact I'm currently working up the nerve to start a social/party comm for aforementioned show, because socializing on Tumblr is hard and weird and I'm old-fashioned and stupid and I can't figure it out (how do you "hang out in the tag", like, you just post stuff? But everyone posts EVERYTHING in the tags, it's a mess! Is there a secret clubhouse called The Tag that I don't know about? Ugh I'm so dumb.) and I desperately need friends with which to discuss Tom Mison and his perfect faaaace. (I have a faaaace-guy again, finally! I'm so happy!) Hands up if you're watching/becoming a fan/already is a fan, although fair warning: I will pounce on you like a cheetah and spam you with gifs and capslocks. Yay, new fandom! :D

So yeah, I'm guessing that sums up my feelings about the Sleepy Hollow pilot, and here are my feelings about the other pilots of the season (ordered by likelyhood of me watching more):

Agents of Shield: Definite keeper obviously, pilot was a bit weak but it's Whedon and a strong cast and it has potential.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Not completely blown away by it but best comedy pilot so far and I'll definitely keep watching.
Masters of Sex: Not sure, very odd pilot. Probably keep watching for the based-on-a-true-story aspect (weird things from real life should always be made into TV shows) and because Lizzy Caplan.
The Blacklist: Not sure about this either, sounded bad but it wasn't actually horrible and I liked the female lead so ... it's a maybe.
The Michael J Fox Show: Cute, but ... too cute? Got a very After School Special vibe from the pilot, haven't seen ep 2 yet. I'll give it a couple of episodes before I decide.
Hostages: Gonna pass on this, maybe marathon it later if it turns out to be a sustainable premise (I doubt it) and less sucky than the pilot indicated. I couldn't care less about the characters though.
The Goldbergs: The least painful of all the painful attempts to recapture the glory days of the family sitcom genre, but still a big fat no.
Mom: See above, but this was actually quite painful. Allison Janney, you deserve so much better.
Atlantis: Found out about this from an article claiming it to be the supposed heir to Merlin, which: lol no. Terrible production value, just embarrassing to watch. I didn't make it through the whole thing but I saw enough.
Dads: Worst pilot of the season, I called it after watching it and so far I stand by that. Truly horribly awful. Please cancel immediately kthx.

Not watched yet: The Wrong Mans (tried, turned off after 10 min), Lucky 7 (tried, 5 minutes), By Any Means, Welcome to the Family.

Of returning shows, so far the only ones I have anything to say about are:

Person of Interest:
[Spoiler (click to open)]SEASON OF BADASS LADIES IS GO! So very much here for Shaw and Carter kicking ass and Carter's getting backstory and hanging with Elias and Root is getting character developement and possibly some sort of redemption arc and what's that, this show has dudes too? Oh yeah, those, yeah they're cool too. XD I'm really excited about the cast and team expanding a bit though, it's going to be excellent.

New Girl:
[Spoiler (click to open)]I'm loving Nick/Jess as a couple, it's always a bit worrying to see how a ship will work as an actual couple but I think this can really work well and I hope they go the route of just growing pains and occassional speedbumps instead of forced drama, because that will also give them the chance to focus a bit on the other characters. Don't get me wrong, Jake Johnson is the MVP of this show, but pretty much everyone I ever see talking about this show (including myself) has been asking for storylines and screentime for Winston and they really need to get on that. He's becoming the crazy weird one dimensional joke character and he's got the potential to be so much more, he needs something to do, stat.

Schmidt on the other hand needs less to do, a lot less. His storyline is the worst and I literally can't even stand to watch it - I mute and look away or skip ahead during those scenes, because it's just so not funny and not working and they just keep dragging out the inevitable. Just have both girls smarten up and dump him and then send him on a very thourough journey of personal growth and redemption. I always said that he'd be better in small doses and I was right (yes, that is an "I told you so" - I TOLD YOU SO, NEENER). I used to find him mildly annoying and occassionally funny - now it's unbearably annoying and very rarely mildly funny.

Lastly I thought I'd share my current up-to-date list of shows!

I knew I jinxed myself yesterday with that comment about being done. I'm not done: new appointment to patch up 3 holes temporarily until I can manage the full proper deal in the spring. Two of the holes are in my top molars, so I have to decide whether to patch or pull those, and if pull then whether I can do it without full-on surgery this time. Fuuuuck.

Any of you have your molars out? How was it? Did it hurt/take long? I think I'd rather be rid of them, they're pretty useless and it's a more permanent solution.

In conclusion: FUCK.
